Southern's Technology Department has two classes in welding that are part of the auto program. We do not currently offer a degree in welding, but by taking these two classes you will be able to weld using several processes. The processes taught are mig, tig, arc-stick, and oxy-acetylene. Students learn to weld several types of metal: steel, aluminum, and cast iron. These metals are often welded in the auto repair process. We teach mig welding of sheet metal and plate steel.
